It makes a great meal for people who are looking for a good protein source. It is used as a cleansing mono diet in the Ayurvedic tradition as it balances all different body types and constitutions. It is traditionally made with white basmati rice (though I prefer brown!) and high-protein mung dal. If you cannot find mung dal in your local stores, then you can try this recipe with lentils.

½ cup basmati pirinci

1 çay kaşığı hardal tohumu

½ cup maş fasulyesi

1 çay kaşığı kimyon tohumu veya tozu

7 cup su

1 çay kaşığı kişniş tozu

Bir tutam tuz

1 çay kaşığı rezene tozu

2 çay kaşığı saf yağ tozu

1 tutam çemen tozu

2 çay kaşığı zerdeçal tozu

Kabak vb. Sebzeler

Food & Lord Krishna

Lord Krishna says to Arjuna : “The food which is dear to each is threefol. Hear the distinctions of these . The foods which increase vitality , energy , vigor and joy and which are delicious , bland , substantial and agreeable are dear to the pure .The passionate desire foods that are bitter , sour , saline , excessively hot , pungent , dry and burning and which produce pain , grief , and disease .The food which is stale , tasteless , putrid and rotten , leavings and impure is dear to the tamasic ” – Bhagavad Gita . Ch.VII-8,9,10.

Different foods produce different effects on different compartments of the brain. Food exercises tremendously vast influence over the mind . You can see it in everyday-life . It is very difficult to control mind after a heavy , sumptuous , indigestible , rich meal. The mind runs , wanders and jumps like an ape all the time. Alcohol causes great excitement of the mind .

Food is only a mass of energy . Water and air also supply energy to the body . Tou can live without food for several days but you cannot live without air even for a few minutes . What is wanted to feed the body is energy .

We need a well-balanced diet , not a rich diet . A rich diet produces diseases of the liver , kidneys and pancreas .A well-balanced nutrition helps to grow , to turn out more work , keeps up the efficiency , stamina and high standard of vim and vigor.

Man has invented so many kinds of dishes just to satisfy his palate and made life complex . We call ourself a civilized man , when we are really ignorant and deluded by the senses .Our mind get upset when we cannot get this dishes  !Is this real  strength? We have become an absolute slave of our tongue. We have to be natural and simple in eating and drinking.

Eat to live and not live to eat .

Follow this golden rule and be happy.

Yoga and Ayurveda

yoga-universeLife ( Ayu ) is the combination of body , senses, mind and reincarnating soul.

Ayurveda is the most sacred science of life, beneficial to humans both in this world and the world beyond.

-Charaka Samhita , Sutrasthana, 1.42-34

The Science of Self-Realization and Self-Healing

Yoga , going back over five thousand years , is one of the few spiritual traditions that has mantained an unbroken development throughout history.Comprehending all aspects of the human being and the world of nature, it can unfold all the higher powers that are accessible to us both internally and externally.

Yogic methods include all methods of higher evolution in humanity  :  physical postures, ethical discipline, breath control, sensory methods, affirmations and visualizations, mantra and meditative disciplines.Yoga is first and foremost a science of Self-Realization.It teaches us how to move from our outer bodily and ego-bound identity to our immortal Self that dwells within the heart. And provides the key to all spiritual development , which in the Vedic sense is gaining knowledge of our true nature beyond time, space, death and suffering.

Ayurveda is a science of Self-healing aimed at relieving the diseas of body and mind. Ayurveda shows us how to attain optimal health not for outer enjoyment but to provide a wholesome foundation and sufficient energy to pursue the yogic quest.

Today , in our world most people identify yoga with the phsical postures or asanas that are the most evident side of the system.Yoga asanas can afford a good doorway into the vast temple of yoga and they are the entire sturcture.

The physical side os ayurvedic healing through diet and herbs is only a part of system. Its inner aspect , healing the subtle body and the mind (which includes yogic practices and meditation ), is the other part.Yoga as therapy or exercise was traditionally prescribedin an ayurvedic context.Classical yoga therapy was ayurvedic both in thery and in application.

The combined study of Yoga and Ayurveda is of great importance of each discipline and for helping understand the whole of life.

Yin -Yang Symbol

Yin-Yang symbol containes a big wisdom. This ancient symbol has a big importance for our healing .
Without the light and goodness, life is meaningless. Much of the light is paralyzed in violence, pain and suffering. The only way to create more light and love is transformation.

Transformation means the destruction, death of one thing for the next. Death brings darkness and without darkness there is not any transformation. And if there is not transformation there is not also gaining of light.
So, the object of health and creating abundance is to accept dark light, not see it like an enemy.
If we can transform the darkness we obtain more compassion, growing love.
Spiritually, it means converting personal pain into joy and more love.
The Yin-Yang symbol is the wisdom for living in harmony with nature, according the laws of the nature which we experience every day .
Yin-Yang symbol contains the seasons of the yearly cycle: spring which is the birth, summer is the growth, autumn is to decay and winter is death and back to into spring, as re-birth. This cycle exists in every aspect of our lives, phsysically, emotionally and spiritually.

The reunion with Nature on every level of our being is the more important thing that we have to understand.

This symbol is a reflection of the world we live in and the world we are. It’s our own body, the body of the Earth, rivers, plants and everything else. It’s also our relationship with nature and everyday life. So when you contemplate and think on this symbol, you can see your life and the natural world. This symbol has a form of circle which represents wholeness because any point on the circumference of the circle is equidistant from its center. It means that no part of the circle is separated from the Truth, Harmony or “God”.

Honoring both dark and light in ourselves and in natural world is to honor the whole of the circle, if we do not, this causes stagnation, pain, disconnection and decreasing our participation in life. So, understanding Yin-Yang will bring us to healing: flow of the dark in the light, life to death…and rebirth!
In Yin-Yang symbol there is no waste, dark, painful holds the seeds for light, beauty and renewal.
When Yang is overemphasized or diseased state, like today in the world, it turns into unnatural Yin which is death without renewal .

Yin is archetypal feminine, Yang is archetypal masculine, and both exist in each of us and all of nature and neither is ultimately more important than other . There is not dark -Yin without light -Yang and viceversa .This happens every day…there is no night without day , no rest without activity !Yin and Yang are entirely interdepentent and they generate and support on another. Nature is boss 🙂 if we do not follow law, we will lose.

Without coolness, heat has no relief and without heat, coolness cannot warm up itself .But , each condition in excess leads to death .

Conscious awareness, light is incomplete without awareness of our unconscious ,dark. To be able to see the consciousness to what is dark in us , unites everything in wholeness. This is ‘ the Yin-Yang symbol in action .

Substantially, darkness is not bad ,it is needed for the light and the light without darkness burns everything… So, we can explain that what is dark and painful in us is merely an opportunity for growth and learning.

When we do not grieve our losses, our heart breaks and our emotional pain is expressed in physical manifestation in tight muscles, congestion, postural anomalies (autumn) stagnates in us causing depression, anger, violence, closed-heartedness. When we grief our losses and “die through our pain” (winter’s death), we free our hearts and create the fertile ground for the enjoyment of a creative and joyfull life (spring and summer). So, we do not control the transformation, we just facilitate it by being with what is moment to moment, day by day.
